5 Questions To Ask When You Want To Change Your Life
These 4 questions come from Byron Katie. (The 5th from me).
They are tried and true! These questions help you become aware of your own thoughts, how they impact you, and where there may be room for detachment and change.
They will help you immensely:
- Is it true?
- Can you absolutely know it’s true?
- How do you react? What happens when you believe that thought?
- Who would you be without the thought?
A Note About #1 +2: Truth And Facts Are Not The Same
Belief makes things real; so does “truth.”
We hear a lot of people say, “That’s my truth!” But is it? Really?
Personally, I view this whole “my truth” idea as a limiting belief in itself.
Self-Reflection Requires Evaluating One’s Beliefs
There comes a time when we all must look within and ask whether what we believe is helpful or harmful.
Giving up beliefs may be hard, but it may be the one action you take that frees you to live a life you love.
Examining our thoughts helps us realize where beliefs may be holding us back or propelling us forward.
Bonus Question #5: Does This Thought Align With A Fact?
Katie’s 4 questions are about beliefs.
But does my thinking lead to factual outcomes? It’s better to have a fact abut whether one may need an umbrella today than an opinion.
Get it?
