I’ve given you three very basic yoga poses so far. Now, you’ll have four to practice.

Today, You’ll Learn to Sit in Sukhasana, or “Easy Pose”

This is the simple cross-legged position you see in the yoga emoji 🧘‍♀️

It’s also another foundational pose that’s grounding & calming.

But it’s not always “easy.” For some of us, it’s a challenge (I have hip issues). If you have hip or knee problems, this one may not be for you.

How to Do Easy Pose

  • Come into a seated position
  • Cross your legs, one in front of the other ideally with each foot below the knees.
  • Ground the sits bones onto the mat.
  • Place your hands on your knees (palms up or down, your choice)
  • Reach up with the crown of your head to lengthen your spine.
  • Make sure to release your shoulders by dropping them down and back.
  • Press your chest forward.

If you need help, you can put blocks under your knees if you have them, or use blankets or pillows. You can also sit on a blanket.
