I’ve Written Online for 74 Days in a Row — Here’s Why Such Streaks Are Underrated

On December 1, 2021, I declared I was beginning a 90-day “#ContentStorm” in which I’d publish something online daily.

I knew becoming consistent would lead me somewhere.

I just didn’t know where. Here’s how I got here.

In November, I Wrote a Novel for NaNoWriMo.

But no one has seen that work except me.

This gave me the gift of consistency and the confidence to know I can complete long-form work.

I can stick with things. That’s huge.

In December, I Began a Learning Journey of Consistency

Through shipping content online daily, I began to see where I’d been wasting my time by not being consistent.

I may have had good ideas & intentions before. But my lack of consistency voted them down before they got off the ground.

By the end of my first 30 days of consistent shipping, I realized I’d wasted time on Patreon and Substack. However, Medium seemed to be rewarding.

By January, I’d Signed Up for 🚢 #Ship30for30

If Medium had been amazing before, Typeshare stepped on the scene screaming, “Hold my beer, watch this!”

Finally, something linked my content to Twitter & Medium automatically. This gave me faster feedback!

That forced me to take a hard look at what content wasn’t working. I also began to see that I hadn’t realized what was working! I realized I was totally clueless as to what people wanted.

The Toughest Lesson of All

I’d been spending years writing “my ideas” out and releasing them online to no avail.

Turns out, what I wanted to write about may not be what others want to read.

That’s where my ego began to die and where I began to become a better writer.

I dare you to do the same. Sign up for the March Ship30 Cohort here!
