The 5th Reiki Boundary Is Integrity, or Don’t Make Promises You Can’t Keep
Don’t Practice Outside Your Scope of Practice.
- Don’t write checks you can’t cash!
- Don’t make promises about what Reiki can do or what someone will experience.
- Have integrity.
This has long been my personal definition of the word:
Integrity is what you do when no one else is watching.
What This Means For Practicing Reiki
People want an amazing spiritual experience with Reiki. They want a burning bush moment, to see colors, and to have visions.
But in life, and Reiki, you don’t get what you want — you get what you need.
I don’t make promises I can’t deliver on. I tell you you’re going to feel relaxed, maybe fall asleep, and enjoy experiencing your meditative zone.
Anything above that? Awesome!
It’s Nice to be Pleasantly Surprised by What Transpires in a Reiki Session.
This respects Reiki and the experience of others whom you’re sharing it with. Let people have the space to experience and interpret Reiki as they may — without your influence, bias, or promises made.
This is freedom.
It also takes the pressure off of you for having to “provide” a certain experience or “make good” on a certain expectation.
