The Things No One Tells You About Meditation

Let’s lift back the curtain real quick.

Meditation isn’t all “love and light” and it may not make your personality “more chill.”

Here’s what you can expect.

Yes, You’ll Become More Tolerant

But this doesn’t mean you will tolerate bullsh*t more easily.

With practice, you’ll become more tolerant of what makes you uncomfortable.

That could be traffic, noisy neighbors, and screaming kids. But total B.S.? No, you will create even stronger boundaries against that.

What Needs Improvement Will Become Louder

As you find stillness and quiet within, you will come to a place where you become the observer.

It starts with observing your breath and the sounds around you.

Eventually, you’ll increase the skill of observing yourself. That’s where you’re going to have a-ha moments and say to yourself, “Self, I think it’s time to improve upon this (insert loud thing here).”

You begin to cut out your own noise.

It’s the Owner’s Manual To YOU

Don’t you wish you came with an owner’s manual when you arrived on this Earth?

Meditation helps you turn the pages of that manual.

It may not say, “Heather can’t eat eggs and wheat,” in the way I wish it did. But you know what it does tell me? Volumes about myself: my actions, my reactions, and my patterns.

Welcome to self-awareness! Happy meditating. 🧘‍♀️
