Two Lightning Node Tips I Wouldn’t Have Thought I Needed — Until Last Night
You think it won’t happen to you.
Then you hear that water hitting the floor in the middle of the night during a severe thunderstorm…
Instant heart attack.
#1: Be Ready To Rip Your Node’s Power Supply Out Of The Outlet
It was instinct as the water began flowing toward a power outlet.
There was no proper shutdown opportunity. My Bitcoin lightning node went offline in a second. Better than frying it with an electrical problem.
It will never again sit near a window!
#2: Seed Phrase Security
I’m paranoid about my seed phrase so it’s never had a moment of being kept digitally in its life.
It’s also one of the many important things I ensure stay water and fireproof. (I’ve had some bad experiences). For once, I was prepared!
Water and fireproof your seed phrase in any and every way you can!
The Node Will Rejoin The Lightning Network Soon
I was in the process of fixing it before the storm but wasn’t finished.
I’m not a dev, so I’ll probably re-flash Umbrel to my micro-SD to see if that can fix it. It seems like that’s worked for some in the Umbrel community so far.
Rumor has it a new version of 🌂 is coming though…oh, the irony 😉
