What If Your Year *Did* Turn Out As Planned But You Still Feel Unfulfilled?

I can’t possibly capture “The Answer” to this on such a small piece of writing. The answer to this will be very personal — only YOU can provide the answer. Let’s ask a few basic questions.

Are you living aligned with your values?

For example, if you value freedom but you’re locked into a corporate contract, this can be a clue. I’ve been there; it sucks. Your choice is to find a way to live with it or find a way to change it.

Are you finding purpose in your life?

Maybe you got everything you wanted this year, accomplished all your goals, and your plans all worked out. Congrats! 🎉

If existential dread is kicking in, then you may have come up short of living your purpose. This doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you! It’s normal to go through this.

Something else is going on

Maybe you pursued the goals your family expected. Maybe there’s a mental health diagnosis and subsequent medications that leave you feeling less. Maybe you come from a dysfunctional family that leaves you chasing the wrong kind of “fulfillment’ as an adult.

We all define fulfillment differently.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to answering this question! But a good coach can help you dig and find the answers you seek.
