What Would You Do With Your MegaMillions?
Other than whatever house you have picked on Zillow right now, what would you do? You have to create something though. You can’t just retire.
I’d do the work I’ve wanted to do for 18 years — curing CJD.
Because with millions at my disposal, I could fund the research to find the cure. Even if I don’t live to see it.
The horror of that disease is beyond what you can comprehend. Watching it happen to my family members is something that changed me in ways most of society cannot and chooses not to grasp.
- Years of living for the moment? Guilty.
- Years of substance abuse? Guilty?
- Years of estrangement from family? Also guilty.
Waking up every day helpless takes a toll. I could finally change this in a big way.
Did you know that, instead of taking a vacation like a normal person, I paid my way to participate in CJD research at UCSF with some of the top doctors in the world?
Did you know I’ve been studying CJD since 2004 & blogging about it since 2005?
Did you know there are people in this world who quit their entire lives to become CJD researchers because it happened to them?
Did you know I’ve lost 3 family members to CJD?
Did you know I’ve spoken to a room full of the world’s best neurologists about the subject of autopsy with the CDC?
Did you know I’ve given my blood to the Red Cross for research so that it can protect our blood supply?
I hate “awareness campaigns,” so I’ve never tried to do one. My heart was, is, and always will be with the research.
